Zimbabwe Investment Authority

All applications for any type of investment into Zimbabwe require the approval of the Zimbabwe Investment Authority.

The Authority

The Zimbabwe Investment Authority is an independent body established by way of the Zimbabwe Investment Authority Act (CAP 14:30), which works closely with the Ministry of Industry and International Trade to facilitate the processing of investment licences as well as implement investment promotion strategies of the country and to supervise, monitor and evaluate the implementation of approved projects.

All applications for investment into Zimbabwe including the purchase or transfer of equity in existing businesses require the approval of the Zimbabwe Investment Authority. In conjunction with the commercial banks, we can assist in structuring applications that require to be submitted to the Authority. Generally, approvals will only be granted where the investment demonstrates that benefits will accrue to Zimbabwe in the form of technology transfer, improved competitiveness, increased employment levels and increased net foreign currency earnings.
